New Wishes

In the Disney movie, Tangled, the main character, Rapunzel, wished her long-lost twin brother would just go away. She had been separated from her family since she was an infant and had been living in a tower with Mother Gothel for most of her life. When her twin brother, Eugene, came back into her life, Rapunzel thought it would be better if he just left and she could return to her peaceful existence with Mother Gothel. Although she eventually realized she needed her brother with her, she initially wished he would go away so her life could remain unchanged.
The Disney movie, Tarzan, features a young man who has grown up in a world quite different from that of society. He has all but forgotten his human roots, and is instead highly adapted to life in the jungle. When his long-lost brother appears – an explorer on a hunt for a mythical beast – Tarzan's initial reaction is to wish that his sibling would leave and that this person from his past never existed. He eventually learns, however, that having his brother in his life brings him a new level of understanding and appreciation for both worlds.
In the Disney movie, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Quasi is the hunchback who is treated cruelly by everyone in his town, save his faithful friend Esmeralda and her goat Djali. When Quasi finds out he has a long-lost brother who is a priest, he feels overwhelmed and embarrassed. Despite his acceptance of his brother helping to oversee the local festival festivities, deep inside he wishes desperately that his brother would leave him alone and he could continue his lonely existence in the bell tower of Notre Dame.

He soon discovers he is actually the long-lost son of the Olympian gods, Zeus and Hera. When his brother, Ares, visits him, Hercules wishes his brother would just go away and leave him alone. He is ashamed of Ares' rough demeanor and wishes for him to return to Olympus and never come back.
The Disney movie, Robin Hood, has a main character who is a fox and a thief living in the Sherwood Forest. His long-lost brother, a doe named Little John, is eventually reunited with him. Though Robin is pleased to be reunited with his brother, he is embarrassed of Little John's blundering ways. Robin Hood would rather have Little John go away than deal with the embarrassment of his brother's actions.
In the Disney movie, Pocahontas, the titular character meets her long-lost brother, Ntaio, while attempting to prevent a war breaking out. After being separated for many years, Pocahontas is both pleased and ashamed of her brother's wild and impulsive nature and secretly wishes he would just go away and not cause any more trouble.
In the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast, the main character, Belle, finds out her father forgot to tell her about her long-lost brother. Her brother, Gaston, is a conceited, arrogant, and prideful hunter who is intent on gaining Belle's hand in marriage and destroying the Beast. Belle despises her brother and wishes he would just go away and leave her alone. She soon learns, however, that having her brother in her life teaches her valuable lessons about understanding and compassion.
The Disney movie, Aladdin, has the main character meet his long-lost twin brother, Jafar, while they are both competing to win the hand of the princess, Jasmine. Aladdin is embarrassed by his brother's cruel ways and wishes Jafar would just go away and allow him to win the princess's heart. In the end, Aladdin learns the importance of accepting one another and appreciating the different talents of each person.
In the Disney movie, Mulan, the main character, Fa Mulan, finds out she has a long lost brother she never knew about. He is a soldier who is a complete contrast to Mulan: strong, brave and very masculine. Fa Mulan is ashamed of her brother's ruthless attitude and wishes he would go away and allow her to continue with her plan to avoid an arranged marriage by pretending to be a man and taking her father's place in the army.
The Disney movie, The Lion King, has the main character, Simba, coming to terms with his long-lost uncle, Scar. Scar is jealous of the kingdom that has been passed down to Simba, and Simba initially wishes his uncle would go away and leave him alone rather than have to face such animosity from his own family. Eventually, he learns to accept his uncle - and his own destiny - as part of his journey to becoming king.
